10 October 2024. The Philippine Embassy in Copenhagen hosted twenty-two (22) students from various universities in Denmark who are participating in the Center for Science and Commercial Diplomacy (CSCD) Youth Academy program. Offered to students and young professionals who are interested in pursuing careers in international affairs at governments or multilateral institutions, the program provides the unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights into globally significant issues through lectures and embassy visits.
Ambassador Leo M. Herrera-Lim provided the students a brief overview of the Philippines, its foreign policy priorities, the state of the current bilateral relations with Denmark (including shared interests and trade and investment relations), the Filipino demographic under the Embassy’s jurisdiction (Denmark, Greenland, and Faroe Islands), and its stance on the South China Sea dispute.
The students were also able to witness the launch of the Embassy’s National Indigenous Peoples’ Month exhibit, which features various symbols and handicrafts from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Likewise, they enjoyed Filipino cuisine, through generous servings of lumpia, pancit, puto, and buko pandan.
Weeks before visiting the Philippine Embassy, the participants of the CSCD Youth Academy program attended a short course on diplomacy and were also given the privilege to visit the Embassies of China, Norway, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bangladesh. END.
