15 June 2024, Copenhagen. “Aben og Skildpadden” (Ang Matsing at ang Pagong / The Monkey and the Turtle), the first Filipino children’s story translated in Danish, was successfully launched during the 2nd Philippine Cultural Day on 15 June 2024 at the Copenhagen Town Hall Square.

The book was launched in view of Jose Rizal’s 163rd birthday on 19 June 2024 and as a modest companion to the compilation of his translation of children’s stories written by famous Danish author, Hans Christian Andersen.

The book’s illustrator, Daniel Jacobsen, and its translator, Lakambini Sitoy, were both present at the launch and they shared with the audience their inspirations in their respective craftworks. A book signing was held at the sidelines of the event, and at least two hundred (200) copies were given away to children throughout the day.
