The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines joins the Filipino communities in Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands in celebrating the 126th anniversary of the proclamation of our country’s independence.
As we commemorate this milestone, we reflect on the theme of this year’s anniversary, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.” (Freedom. Future. History.), which emphasizes freedom’s umbilical relation to our country’s birth as the first truly independent Republic in Asia and the future of our people.
I urge all of you to contemplate on the freedom that all Filipinos are privileged to enjoy today, as a result of the unconditional sacrifices and bravery of our forebears. Let us honor their sacred offering at the altar of freedom, by being part of the collective national effort to make it possible for all our people to fully enjoy the fruits promised by freedom and independence.
It is incumbent upon Filipinos to be proud of our identity and culture, and to ensure that our thoughts, words, and actions positively contribute to nation-building and achieving the national vision of a strongly-rooted, comfortable, and secure life for all our countrymen.
Let us work together to achieve the Bagong Pilipinas, which highlights unity, community involvement, and the bayanihan culture as the moving spirit for the full realization of a progressive Philippines and a united Filipino people.
Mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino at maligayang araw ng kasarinlan!
