19 July 2023 - Berlingske, one of Denmark’s national dailies, published Philippine Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim’s views on the Moderate Party’s proposal to bring in Filipino nurses to Denmark.

Ambassador Herrera-Lim said that the Philippines will seriously consider a proposal from Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to train and hire Filipino nurses. For Filipino nurses who already live in Denmark and are applying for accreditation, he recommended the establishment of ‘bridging programs’ to improve their language and professional skills.

The Ambassador emphasized that the Danish Government's plan to develop a nursing program in the Philippines would not only bolster the country's education system but also equip Filipino healthcare professionals with enhanced qualifications, making them more competitive globally. Moreover, he pointed out that other nations, including the USA, UK, Japan, Germany, Norway, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, have successfully recruited and continue to recruit Filipino healthcare workers for their skills and aptitude.

The Embassy of the Philippines, in close collaboration with relevant authorities in Denmark, looks forward to furthering discussions on this promising proposal to foster cooperation and mutual benefits in the healthcare sector. END
