The Philippine Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark in cooperation with the Filipino Community Volunteers in Nuuk, successfully conducted a consular outreach mission at the Krist Konge Kirke in Nuuk on 08 July 2023. During the mission, a total of 42 mobile ePassport applications and 38 other services including notarial, civil registry applications were processed. Consultation services on various consular and labour matters were also provided by the team. Also, a total of 14 Filipinos registered for overseas voting.
On 09 July 2023, the Embassy also met with Filipino entrepreneurs and overseas employees and visited their businesses/workplaces in Nuuk. The team was also informed that upon intercession of the Philippine Embassy, Filipino seafarers working in cruise ships docking at the Nuuk Harbor have been provisionally permitted to take shore leave in Greenland upon the submission of their seafarer documents.
Members of the Filipino community in Nuuk expressed their gratitude for this outreach mission conducted in their area, 3,534 kilometers from Copenhagen and very costly to travel if one needs to renew his/her passport.
As of January 2023, there are 725 registered Filipinos in Greenland. The fast growing number of Filipinos in Nuuk earnestly appeal for the Embassy to conduct another mission next year. END
