Express 5, the world's biggest catamaran ferry built by Austal Philippines, has set sail on its maiden voyage from Cebu, Philippines to Rønne, Denmark. The high-speed ferry, measuring 115 meters, was commissioned by Molslinjen, a prominent Danish shipping company. The vessel is set to redefine travel between Ystad, Sweden and Rønne, the largest town in the Danish island of Bornholm.

According to Ambassador Leo M. Herrera-Lim, the delivery of Austal Philippines' second high-speed ferry to Denmark is a testament to the country's growing expertise and capability in building world-class vessels at competitive prices. This milestone marks a significant moment in the 77th year of friendly relations between the Philippines and Denmark.

The Express 5 can accommodate up to 1,610 passengers and around 450 cars, making it an impressive engineering achievement. The vessel boasts a full bistro and bar, a children's play area, and multiple audio-visual screens, providing passengers with a pleasant travel experience.
Valued at 83.63 million EUR, the ferry is expected to have a significant impact on tourism and connectivity for the island of Bornholm, increasing passenger capacity and car volume by more than 35%. With the introduction of the Express 5, travelers can look forward to a more comfortable and unforgettable journey across the Baltic Sea.
