Copenhagen, 9 March 2023 - Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim, together with ASEAN Ambassadors based in Copenhagen, discussed the potential collaboration on quantum physics with Copenhagen University’s Niels Bohr Institute.

Head of Department and Professor Jan W. Thomsen conveyed that Denmark is home to a vibrant and innovative quantum ecosystem built on the legacy of Niels Bohr’s discoveries. He shared that the Institute has been selected to house the cutting-edge NATO Center for Quantum Technologies equipped with an accelerator and incubator site for startups. The new center is part of NATO’s Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) which aims to keep the NATO countries technological edge by promoting new and disruptive technologies. The Institute provided a tour of its quantum communications and atomic clock laboratories.

Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim encouraged the Institute to intensify its advertising program to attract more students from the Philippines and the rest of ASEAN.

The Institute, one of the leading research centers on physics, was established by Niels Bohr himself in 1921 and is recognized as the birthplace of atomic physics and modern physics. END
