Copenhagen, 1 March 2023 - PH Embassy and Molslinjen, one of the main operators of ferry lines across Denmark, shared updates on the commissioning of MV Express 5, the high-speed ferry being built by Austal Philippines in Balamban, Cebu.

Captain Kasper Sommer briefed Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim on plans to commission the vessel which is undergoing its final stages of testing. MV Express 5 is expected to arrive in Denmark in spring of this year.

The 83.63 million EUR-valued vessel is the world’s largest high speed ferry by capacity and will add more than 35% passenger capacity and volume for cars to the said route.

The Ambassador conveyed that the Philippines is interested to learn from Denmark on the elements of a viable ferry system to boost interconnectivity and boost transport efficiency between some of the country’s major islands. END
