Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim exchanged views with Mr. Ulf Melgaard, Director of International Law and Human Rights of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), on matters of mutual interests.

In commemoration of this year’s 40th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Laws of the Seas (UNCLOS), Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim underscored the efforts of the Philippines to bring attention to UNCLOS and its leading role in the adoption of the archipelagic doctrine during the treaty negotiations.

The Ambassador conveyed the Philippines’ desire for Denmark to sustain and intensify its support to advance international law to foster peace, stability and freedom of navigation in the ASEAN region.

On his part, Director Melgaard expressed his appreciation for the good cooperation, shared values on human rights and the promotion of a rules-based international order.
