Danish firm Copenhagen Energy and Philippine renewable power producer PetroGreen Energy Corp aims to develop 4 GW offshore wind projects in the Philippines. The two companies signed incorporation documents for the development of offshore wind service contracts in northern Luzon, northern Mindoro, and eastern Panay, awarded by the Department of Energy in 2021.

Under a joint venture with Buhawind Energy Philippines, the projects will have a total capacity of 4 GW with estimated power generation starting between 2027-2031.

Philippine Ambassador to Denmark Leo Herrera-Lim congratulated both companies and remarked that “establishing the offshore wind energy projects in PH will generate thousands of green jobs and lessen the country’s dependence on coal and fossil fuels. We welcome Denmark’s interest in accelerating the Philippines' green energy transition and expanding the areas of cooperation between our countries.

Copenhagen Energy is a Danish developer of solar, onshore and offshore wind projects. Its wind pipeline has grown to more than 28 GW wind projects, with projects across Denmark, Australia, Ireland, Italy, and the Philippines.
