Copenhagen, 25 August 2022 - PH Embassy and Bakkafrost, leading producer of salmon from the Faroe Islands, discuss the growing demand for top quality salmon in the Philippines driven by changes in Filipino consumer lifestyle and increasing awareness of the health benefits of eating salmon.

Ambassador Leo Herrera-Lim and management officials of Bakkafrost discussed plans to share best practices in sustainable fish production, developing green energy through biogas plants using fish residue and sourcing environment-friendly wellboats built in the Philippines. Bakkafrost also conveyed plans of hiring more workers from PH in addition to the more than one hundred Filipino workers it already employs.

After a tour of Bakkafrost's fish processing, the PH Embassy delegation met with a group of Filipinos working for the salmon producer.
