A consular team from the Philippine Embassy in Denmark headed by Ambassador Leo M. Herrera-Lim together with Vice Consul Al-Bari B. Macalawan, Mr. Jose Mari M. Fedelicio, Ms. Caroline B. Rubas, Ms. Maribel G. Baladjay-Borg, and Ms. Sarah B. Correa-Bolo successfully conducted a consular outreach program from 20-21 August 2022 in Torshavn, the capital city of the Faroe Islands.

For the first time ever, the outreach was organized in joint collaboration with the POLO-OWWA-DOT in London to promote synergy of public services by bringing it closer to the Filipino community.

“Malaking tulong na pumunta ang Embassy dito sa Faroe Islands at nakatipid po kami ng pamasahe at iba pang gastos.na aabot sa humigit kumulang na 15,000 DKK (about US$2,000)”, according to a very happy Jennilyn Balasagay who applied for passport renewal of her two minor children.

The consular team was able to process fourteen (14) passport applications, seven (7) Reports of Birth, one (1) Report of Marriage; twenty-one (21) notarial documents; one (1) dual citizenship; six (6) consultations, and ten (10) pending applications for further evaluation and compliance of requirements, for a total of sixty (60) services rendered,. The consular outreach was held in St. Mary’s church where the Filipino catholic community attends Sunday mass.

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Faroe Islands comprise 18 rocky, volcanic islands known for its picturesque grassy heathlands and steep coastal cliffs. It is a self-governing archipelago and part of the Kingdom of Denmark. There are around 400 Filipinos living across the islands who work mostly in the service sector such as fish factory, banking, teaching, cleaning, grocery, café, and hotels. END
