The Philippine Embassy in Denmark sent a consular team led by Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena to the Faroe Islands on 28-29 August 2021. An archipelago in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean located between Norway and Iceland and an autonomous country of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Faroe Islands is home to about 300 Filipinos. This is the first outreach conducted by the Post since the outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020. All Embassy personnel who took part in the outreach have been fully vaccinated and observed all COVID-19 protocols in place. The Embassy consular team provided passport, civil registration, notarial and overseas voting registration services.
The Filipino community in Faroe Islands has contributed tremendously to the economy and society of their adopted home as nurses, teachers, bank employees, employees in the international airport and Atlantic Airlines, as well as workers in fish factories.
The consular mission was made possible with the strong support of and cooperation by the Kabayan in Faroe Islands, a 135-strong Filipino organization, led by its president, Mrs. Winda T. Petersen.
