The event aims to build a nationwide public awareness and appreciation of volunteerism, create the environment for voluntary action and recognize volunteers as partners in development.

The theme for this year is "Be an Inspiration, Volunteer!"which emphasizes the important role of volunteers as motivators, enables and leaders in development activities and how volunteer actions touch the lives of individuals and communities to inspire them to actively contribute and participate in volunteerism for development.
