5 August 2019 - The Philippine team to the World Robot Olympiad Friendship Invitational (WROFIT) 2019 held from August 1 to 4 in Aarhus, Denmark, won the gold medal in the Smart Cities project (Open Category – Smart Governance) and 4th place in Smart Cities Junior High Open Category.
Team Nouvus from Dr. Yanga’s College Inc., (DYCI Bocaue, Bulacan), composed of Doneth Dela Rama, Naiah Mendoza and Jaren Perez, won gold medal with their Project ’ALAB’ (Anti-Adversity Link for Aid and Benefits). The smart governance technology was designed to organize the provision of aid for natural and man-made calamities.
Team Nexus from Livingstone International School Angeles, Pampanga, represented by Krischell Anne Faust, Amelia Felize Fernandez and Paolo Palanisamy, placed 4th with Project C.I.U.D.A.D (City of Urban Discoveries and Development). Project C.I.U.D.A.D intends to provide solutions to air, water and renewable energy issues of cities.
According to delegation head Ms. Mylene Abiva, President and CEO of FELTA Multi-Media Inc., Team Nouvus bested 149 teams from 32 countries (ages 16 to 19 years old).
This is the second invitational robotics tournament in Denmark. The Olympiad was held at Navitas, Aarhus, one of Denmark’s center for science and innovation.END
